Ok, maybe the Twitter profile picture in the post got me. Or, maybe it was the headline "Come Play on Facebook". Either way, when I went to the Facebook page it had substance behind it. I liked these pictures. That drove me to the web site. I saw more pictures I liked. More importantly, it was a good web site, actually multiple sites. They looked professional, told me she’s not a pro “wanna be” and had a feel of substance and quality. Then I got to the about section and it told me even more. Finally, I clicked on the blog and then I really started to have a sense of what this photographer is about. This is how Joan Allen, an LA portrait photographer, uses Social Media.
Now, what do you suppose goes thru a client or art directors mind? Is she the right fit for this project? Does she have the chops for my hugely important client? I don’t know yet. But thru all of this I’ve discovered that she is worth watching. If this wasn’t a HUGELY IMPORTANT assignment (translation= means my career…then I’d keep her in mind for this project and give her a shot). In the meantime I’ll follow her to find out more about her and the work. Maybe pick up the phone, call for a book…she just might work for this.
This is how Social Media can lead your prospects and clients to your doorstep.
